From April 11th to 15th, 2021, the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Electrical Materials and Power Equipment, ICEMPE 2021 was successfully held in Chongqing University. More than 300 experts and scholars from 12 countries and regions participated in the conference both online and offline. Focusing on the topics of new insulating materials, dielectric insulation phenomenon, power equipment condition detection and evaluation technology, and electrical insulation technology under extreme conditions, they exchanged cutting-edge academic achievements and jointly discussed the prospects of this field.
Professor Li Shengtao from Xi 'an Jiaotong University serves as the Chairman of ICEMPE 2021 and Professor Chen Weigen from Chongqing University takes the charge of the Executive Chairman. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Chen Weigen. Professor Li Shengtao, Yan Zhuo, Deputy Secretary General of China Electrotechnical Society, Professor Paul Gaberson, President of IEEE DEIS, Lv Yuechun, Deputy General Manager of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, and Li Jian, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Li Jian introduced the history and achievements of the discipline of Electrical Engineering in Chongqing University, and expressed his gratitude to China Electrotechnical Society and IEEE DEIS for their strong support to the conference. He hoped that both sides could further deepen exchanges and cooperation.
The conference organized activities such as paper presentation, poster display, technical visits of Chongqing ABB transformer plant, etc., which provided opportunities for in-depth communication among teachers, students and enterprise technical experts. In order to encourage people from domestic power grid enterprises and power equipment manufacturing enterprises to attend the conference, the conference also included "China Session" topic panel. At the conference, "Outstanding Student Paper Award" was awarded to five outstanding graduate students, in order to encourage the majority of students to actively participate in the cutting-edge technology research in the field of electrical materials and power equipment.
ICEMPE 2021 is co-sponsored by the Engineering Dielectric Committee of China Electrotechnical Society and IEEE DEIS, and is undertaken by the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security of Chongqing University. ICEMPE is held every two years, and the next conference will be jointly hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tongji University in 2023.
