Online lecture presented by Prof. Lei Wu, Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology

On the morning of March 14, 2021, Professor Lei Wu of Stevens Institute of Technology was invited to deliver a speech, with the title Day-Ahead SCUC for Integrating Large-Scale DERs into Wholesale Energy Markets .This academic lecture was jointly organized by the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University, the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security, and the Chongqing Electrical Engineering Society, and was hosted by Ren Zhouyang, Assistant Dean of the School.

Before the report officially started, on behalf of the college, Prof.Ren expressed a warm welcome to Professor Wu's participation in the "Online Lecture Hall" and gave an overall introduction to Professor Wu's academic experience and research directions.

This lecture mainly covers three topics: (i) Advanced modeling and optimization techniques to facilitate the decision-making of ISOs/RTOs and enhance the reliability and economics of power system operations. (ii) Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC) models to penetrate distributed generator within a short time window. (iii) Key characteristics, new challenges, and potential solutions for the future connected communities.

Later in the lecture, professor L. Wu shared with students an on-going campus-centered connected community effort at Stevens Institute of Technology. Students actively participated in the Q&A session and expressed that they benefitted a lot from the lectures. In the end, Prof. Ren expressed his sincere gratitude to Professor Wu for his participation and invited Professor Wu to the School of Electrical Engineering of Chongqing University after the COVID-19.
